Describing My Work
For me, each piece begins an artistic journey. Often I will begin several pieces simultaneously and as the work evolves and speaks to me it tells me, in a sense, where I should go. Each piece tells a story and evokes a mood while stretching reality to the surreal. Looking deeper into the piece I hope the observer will begin to see that there are hidden depths to it and much more than what is originally perceived by the eye.
Each piece is unique and speaks differently to the individual observer. By using a variety of papers and textures I create a multi-dimensional and intricate work of art. By incorporating into each piece such things as vintage photos, drawings, wallpaper, sheet music, prints, and stamps patterns and shapes begin to form. With the use of acrylics, or watercolors, oil and inks a unifying theme is created. In some of my work I use color as the unifying theme often many shades of the same color. Usually five or more components are used to begin a piece and each piece is unique and as limitless as the imagination.
My art is ever changing and I find excitement in never really knowing, as I begin a piece, where the journey to its’ completion will take me; I hope that those who view my work will find it as compelling as I do.
